(von wegen „let it roll“ lieber Markus ;-))
Besucht uns also bitte weiterhin,
bis bald – hoffentlich aus Deutschland
Elli & Marietta

Hangover in Kigali
Yesterday was the time to say bye bye to Rulenge. We left early in the morning, so that we could reach the international airport of Kigali, the capital of Ruanda, right in time.

In the meantime it is Sunday afternoon and we are still trapped in Kigali. We feel kind of like hangover, because we spent the night in the airplane (no alcohol at all!!).
Against of the originally announced 2,5 hours delay due to only little technical issues, there were 7 hours, of which we had to stay 2 ½ hours in the stuffy, uncomfortably warm aeroplane. ( no, dear Markus, there is not at all “let it roll”)
In the beginning we still worried about our connecting flight in Amsterdam, but soon it was clear for us, that the chance of leaving Kigali was turned to zero.
Now we are sitting in a hotel, in which we had arrived in the early morning hours, and are “enyoying” our hangover at a pool.

What a contrast when we look back to Rulenge. The life of our patients, who are now trying to live respectively survive in the most unfavourable circumstances possible and also with their disease, is worlds apart from here. Although it is only some bumpy hours of drive.
Tonight at 10 pm the plane is expected to fly to Amsterdam. Too late to start work on Monday right in time. At this point we say Thanks a lot to all “Földians” (collegues working in Földiclinic) for your understanding……..we are really sorry. But see things in another sense: To be ill would be worse, wouldn’t it?
Dear readers of our blog: now it is time to thank you for your interest in our Matende Project. Every day we have looked forward to your visits as well as to plenty of comments and emails.
We often were too busy to answer all of you. But you can be sure: you were the ones who gave us lots of power.
As of today we will not send daily posts. The plan is, to keep you up to date and to inform you weekly about our next steps in our project.
So do please visit us furtheron,
See you soon on matendeblog.wordpress.com, from now on from Germany (hopefully!!)
